Scorpion mortal kombat 11

A ninja dressed in yellow, his primary weapon is a kunai rope dart , which he uses to harpoon opponents. Since his debut in the original game , Scorpion has appeared as a playable character in every main installment except Mortal Kombat 3 While Hasashi has been depicted as a neutral figure focused primarily on seeking revenge, he will side with those who can help him achieve his goals.

Scorpion has received critical acclaim since his debut and frequently appears in media outside of the games. Scorpion appeared in the first Mortal Kombat as one of three palette-swapped ninja characters, along with Sub-Zero and Reptile. His early origins were revealed by the series' original chief character designer, John Tobias , in September , when he posted several pages of old pre-production character sketches and notes on Twitter.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero were simply described as "[a] palette swap for 2 ninjas—a hunter and the hunted," while Tobias also considered the concepts of either one of them fleeing their clan or a "revenge story" involving the then-unnamed characters being part of rival clans. Scorpion was given a yellow palette because the developers decided it symbolized fire in contrast to Sub-Zero's ice blue.

Their similar appearance but opposite nature "prompted the story behind them being these opposing ninja-clan-type characters. While his ninja-outfit template from the first generation of games has remained relatively unchanged over time, the improved graphics of the post- Mortal Kombat 4 three-dimensional releases have allowed more details to better differentiate the male ninja characters, and Scorpion's costumes were duly enhanced with objects such as two katana swords strapped to his back and his spear attached to a rope tied to his belt in Deadly Alliance, and a set of ornate shoulder epaulets in Deception, in which his alternate costume was a throwback to the two-dimensional MK titles.

Scorpion's MK costume was inspired by his namesake , such as the character's abdomen-shaped shoulder pads, the two stinger-handled swords crisscrossed on his back, and the exoskeletal pattern on his hard-shell face mask. Scorpion was included with Sub-Zero, Reptile, and Ermac in a bundle of classic costumes from the first Mortal Kombat that was released as downloadable content for the reboot.

Scorpion yells one of two taunts — "Get over here! They were voiced by Boon in the games and both feature films, but only one of them "Come here! According to Boon, the second of the character's phrases originated because he thought "it would be funny to have him yell out 'Get over here! According to Tobias, it first originated as "You're Toast! Scorpion's signature special move throughout the series has him hurling a harpoon-like spear described as a kunai attached to a length of rope at his opponents.

The spear impales his opponents through the chest before Scorpion pulls them in to close range for a free hit. His other incumbent special move throughout the series, save for Deadly Alliance, has been his Teleport Punch, where he flies offscreen during battle and then reappears to strike his opponent from behind. Scorpion additionally gained a new leg-takedown maneuver in MKII that was not well-received Sega Saturn Magazine called it a "ridiculous" move that "no one ever used".

Scorpion pretty much has everything covered. Scorpion's signature finishing move from the original game up until Mortal Kombat 4 was his "Fire Breath" Fatality, in which he removed his ninja hood and face like a mask to reveal a skull right before immolating his opponent. While the "Fire Breath" was brought back for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe in , his spear has otherwise served as his primary tool in his fatalities in the three-dimensional games, from impaling his opponents through the head and then decapitating them in Deadly Alliance , using it to yank off their limbs in Deception , and plunging it into their chest before kicking them through a portal that left nothing but a skinned corpse hanging from the spear's chain in MK "Nether Gate".

His second Fatality in the reboot, "Split Decision", had Scorpion using one of his back-mounted swords to hack his opponent to pieces. Scorpion would indirectly play a role in the fabrication of the then-nonexistent character Ermac when Electronic Gaming Monthly published a doctored screenshot of Scorpion from the original game in In Mortal Kombat II , Scorpion is manipulated into believing Bi-Han has returned and joins the titular tournament to kill him once more.

As atonement for killing the former, Scorpion decides to become the latter's guardian. In Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 , Shao Kahn enlists Scorpion's aid, but the latter eventually defects to Earthrealm's defenders due to his work pitting him against Kuai Liang. Appearing as a boss in the prequel Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero , [ 20 ] Scorpion's history is expanded on.

Years prior, Hanzo Hasashi was a Shirai Ryu clan ninja who was enlisted by the sorcerer Quan Chi to find a map hidden in a Shaolin temple, unaware that the sorcerer also tasked Bi-Han of the rival Lin Kuei clan with the same task. Following this, Quan Chi resurrects Hasashi as Scorpion. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon , Scorpion offers to serve the Elder Gods in exchange for them resurrecting the Shirai Ryu and his family, [ 1 ] only for the Elder Gods to turn them into undead beings.

Enraged by this, Scorpion seeks the elemental Blaze 's power to destroy them, but is defeated by Taven amidst the titular Armageddon. In Mortal Kombat , Earthrealm defender Raiden alters the timeline to avert the events of Armageddon. Two years later, in Mortal Kombat X , Scorpion continues to serve Quan Chi until Raiden and his allies restore his human form and free him from the necromancer's control.

Over the course of the following two decades, Hasashi reformed the Shirai Ryu to better protect Earthrealm, trained Takeda Takahashi , learned the truth behind his family's murder, and befriended Kuai Liang before going on to kill Quan Chi. As of Mortal Kombat 11 , which takes place a further two years later, Hasashi has become the Shirai Ryu's grandmaster.

When the keeper of time, Kronika , attempts to erase Raiden from history, she brings a past version of Scorpion to the present and recruits him, promising to resurrect his clan and family. Four incarnations of Scorpion appear in Mortal Kombat 1 , with Kuai Liang appearing as a playable character and via the story mode; Hasashi as an assist character, or "Kameo Fighter", and an alternate timeline variant via the "Invasions" mode; and a variant of Harumi , also via the "Invasions" mode.

Additionally, Hasashi appears in Smoke's ending, in which he is a young thief who the latter recruits into the Shirai Ryu. This version is a regular specter who wields a morning star. In the former, he seeks to solve all the riddles inside Shang Tsung's mystical tome, the Tao Te Zhan , in order to gain absolute power. In the latter, Shao Kahn uses a mystical gem called the Deathstone to restore Scorpion's human form and place him in charge of an undead army.

Scorpion appears in the non-canon prequel novel Mortal Kombat , written by Jeff Rovin and set before the events of the first game. This version is a young man who acquires his powers after the soul of his deceased father merges with his body in the hopes of using it as a vessel to seek revenge against Sub-Zero for his murder.

This version comes from the Great Kung Lao 's time period and was in a relationship with a woman named Peron. Hanzo, his wife and Jubei are all eating dinner when Hanzo's wife mentions the Shogun's arrival. Jubei is to sing for the Shogun, and eventually is asked to practice by Hanzo. While Jubei practices his song, Hanzo's wife discusses Jubei's dreams.

Hanzo agrees that Jubei should have a new dream and will not allow Jubei to join the Shirai Ryu. During dinner, two assassins appear and say that the Shogun has appeared earlier than expected, and Hanzo's presence has been requested by the Grand Master. As Hanzo leaves to get changed, the eyes of the assassins glow blue, signifying their allegiance to the rival Lin Kuei clan.

Hanzo leaves to find the Grand Master, only to find his throne in the middle of the road, with the Grand Master frozen to the throne. Assassins break into Hanzo's home and capture his wife as Jubei hides. He witnesses two assassins kill his mother. He then turns to see his father's spare kunai as an assassin approaches him.

He knocks Hanzo down and attempts to impale him by creating ice spikes from the ground below. Hanzo evades them, just as Bi-Han creates an ice ball that he fires at Hanzo. Hanzo dodges the attack and catches Bi-Han off-guard with his kunai before pulling Bi-Han towards himself and knocking him out. Removing his mask, Hanzo hears Jubei's cries for help from his father as he is pulled into the darkness.

Hanzo immediately runs towards his village, as Bi-Han regains consciousness. Soon, Hanzo arrives at the outskirts of the village and finds the corpse of half a dozen dead villagers. He runs to his home, only to arrive too late: his wife and son have been killed. Dropping to his knees in emotional agony and despair, Hanzo is caught off-guard as Bi-Han impales him.

Hanzo is completely submerged in ice and is killed. Shang Tsung approaches Bi-Han, clarifying that the village has been cleared. Suddenly, Bi-Han morphs back to the sorcerer Quan Chi , revealing that the attack on the village in part of the Lin Kuei clan was a ruse. Shang Tsung questions Quan Chi as to how easily Hanzo could be persuaded to fight on their side.

Quan Chi notes that Hanzo's honour demands vengeance, and his thirst for revenge should cloud any suspicion.

Hanzo emerges from the ice as his eyes turn white and he takes on the name: Scorpion. Scorpion later arrives at the Mortal Kombat tournament as requested and waits for Sub-Zero to arrive. He finally encounters his perceived traitor with the intent of killing him. Too consumed by his revenge, he engages him in kombat, refusing to listen to Sub-Zero's claims of deception.

The battle ends with Scorpion killing him by using, ironically, Sub-Zero's Spine Rip fatality, and raising Bi-Han head high above his own in victory. Scorpion appears voiced by Ron Perlman in the second episode of Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm , titled Sting of the Scorpion , in which he led an invasion of undead warriors against Earthrealm.

He defeated the younger Sub-Zero in combat, but was ultimately taken down by Liu Kang. He also appeared in several episodes of Mortal Kombat: Conquest , again played by Casamassa , with an origin unrelated to the games.

  • The seductive Vorpax guided Shang Tsung to a hidden recess in Outworld's cobalt mines which held a mystical emperor scorpion called the Scorpio. Shang Tsung unleashed the warrior soul trapped within it, which possessed Takeda, a guard for the Reyland family. Kung Lao was forced to fight the warrior and sent him to Hell once Scorpion killed his love, Jen Reyland.

Scorpion was later resurrected by Shao Kahn, and built an organization of assassins for the Emperor, of whom Siro 's brother was briefly a member. His last known deed was a reluctant partnership with the Lin Kuei to kill Kung Lao. It dissolved with the deaths of people close to him and Sub-Zero, and the two warriors ferociously battled each other to a draw, before the intervention of Kung Lao forced Scorpion to flee.

He employed the living hand creature from the films rather than a spear. A ninja of the fallen Shirai-Ryu Clan, he seeks vengeance on those who brought about his family and clan's demise. After being killed, he was reborn as a hellish wraith of the Netherrealm, but would eventually come to terms with his past and rebuild the Shirai-Ryu while atoning for his past deeds.

He is the arch-rival of Sub Zero and the former servant and arch-enemy of Quan Chi , who was responsible for his clan's demise. Scorpion's catchphrases are voiced by Ed Boon, the franchise's co-creator. Scorpion appeared as a yellow palette swap of Sub-Zero. He kept this appearance from the first MK to MK4 after which he bore two swords on his back and his kunai attached to a rope tied to his belt.

He has white eyes with his mask on. Without his mask, his head is a sometimes flaming skull. In MK4 , he is further distinguished by his skeletal motif, mostly in the mask, with bone-like structures lacing his uniform. Scorpion unmasked is known as Inferno Scorpion. His costumes incorporate his namesake more and more with each game, especially his later redesigns.

The hilts of his swords now resemble the stingers of scorpions, while his shoulder pads and mouthpiece are also molded after scorpions. As of MKX , Scorpion regained his humanity and human identity, depicted with a goatee and mustache and can switch between his human and familiar spectre-like appearance at will. Scorpion's yellow costume is said to have mocked not only Sub-Zero, but also the Lin Kuei, as Takeda who was a member of the Lin Kuei developed Ninjutsu, which he considered a superior fighting style to what the Lin Kuei had.

He was among the best warriors in the clan. As a result, he earned the name Scorpion due to his impressive abilities. A younger version of Hanzo appears in Smoke 's ending. This Hanzo was orphaned and homeless, being forced to steal to survive. He attacked Smoke, who quickly dealt with him, and saw potential in him. Hanzo was offered a home among the Shirai Ryu clan, and became it's first official initiate.

While full of anger, Hanzo's wrath would be tamed by Kuai Liang and Smoke, being a promising young student. When Takeda stayed with the Shirai Ryu, Hanzo grew close to him, seeing him as an older brother. After the events of Khaos Reigns , Cyrax would be assigned to him as mentor, to teach him control. An alternate version of Hanzo Hashashi features as the main antagonist of Invasions Season 1, having been driven mad by grief and rage that he was unable to find a timeline where he was able to save Harumi.

Scorpion was sent to a timeline where he had died instead of Harumi, and she had become Scorpion. Hanzo and Harumi would join together against evils of Quan Chi and many others in their timeline, giving the Scorpions a happy ending.
